REVIEW By: Elaine Van Gunst (May 17, 2010)
Just visited Totten Family Farm this weekend and, at first glance, it looks pretty unassuming, but get out of your car and you are greeted by two very friendly (but not overly friendly jump on you type), sweet dogs and then you walk up to the farmstand. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Beautiful organic vegetable plants for sale - the lettuce was just gorgeous. I had to buy several for my new garden. Lots of beautiful herbs for sale and fresh eggs and local handmade soap. So many great items to look at and buy!! I'll be back next weekend for some tomatoes - organically grown - different varieties than the usual suspects at the giant home center.
I'm hoping they will have their own vegetables for sale this summer - I know they will be of the best quality.
You also can order meat from their own naturally raised animals. I'm not sure I'm going to do that, but isn't it great that we have that option - to buy meat from heritage breed animals who get the opportunity to live a natural, happy life. You can pre-order a turkey for pickup at Thanksgiving and know that your bird was a happy bird.
Thank you, Totten Farm, for a wonderful resource and I wish you all the very best success and I hope you are there for many years.
